In Memoriam - June 2023

June has been a difficult month as the Department of Emergency Medicine lost two long time employees who recently retired.

 

On June 4, 2023, Lisa Vogtle passed away.  Lisa spent 36 years with Upstate Medical University with the many years in with Emergency Medicine.  We sent her off into retirement in early April of 2023 with grand plans to visit Spain.  We were all looking forward to hearing about her adventures in Spain and her growing granddaughter.  Her stories and presence will be missed.

On June 17, 2023, Diane Hartzog passed away.  Diane spent 31 years with Upstate Medical University.  She was the first EM Residency Coordinator for the department and helped guide many residents through the program.  Her boys were her pride as she watched them grow, sharing that joy with those around.  The department sent Diane into retirement in April of 2022.  We will miss her smile and kind words.
